The Old Rep Theatre
The Old Rep is a space for young people, run by young people. The theatre has established itself as a creative hub for the arts, striving to be accessible to as many people as possible and creating a vibrant space for the provision of high quality events and projects.
As the UK’s first purpose-built repertory theatre, we continue to give up and coming talent a space in which they can develop their skills and passion for performing. Everything we do at The Old Rep aims to get the next generation inspired and involved in the arts. From our programme of events tailored to young people and our regular workshops giving participants a platform to develop their early interests in performance and showcase their talents.
We give young individuals access to training opportunities at a variety of levels, including work experience in different departments and apprenticeships in Technical, Digital Marketing and Operations within a cultural venue.
As of 2014, The Old Rep is managed by Birmingham Ormiston Academy (BOA). The relationship between BOA and The Old Rep allows students to gain real life and invaluable experience in a commercial theatre setting, whether it be performing on-stage or the backstage and technical running of a performance.
